It is our policy to minimise environmental impacts in the air, on the ground, and beneath the ground.

While our initial studies do not indicate any unexpected environmental issues, more detailed work still needs to be carried out and will be managed in consultation with all appropriate individuals and bodies.

Altona’s own and independent state sponsored hydrogeological studies will ensure that a Groundwater Management Plan can be developed to minimise any impact on local springs. If any spring is found to have unique or rare flora and fauna, we will take measures to protect its environment through whatever means necessary, including supplementary supply of suitable water if ever needed. Similarly, if it was found that mine dewatering affected local pastoral bores, the GMP will include an unconditional replacement supply of suitable quality water.

Altona supports the very stringent regulations to protect fragile outback environments.
